WESLEY CHAPEL — Kelsey Harris had a successful career working as a fashion and accessory designer when she went to her first barre3 class. She was immediately hooked, and soon after, she decided to leave her job and begin teaching fitness classes.

"Where I found my joy and happiness was working out," said Harris.

One year ago, Harris moved to Wesley Chapel and began looking for a space to open a barre3 franchise. She held over 80 pop-up classes before opening the first Tampa Bay area location of barre3 on July 11.

The company was founded in 2008 in Portland, Ore., and now has over 150 studios throughout the United States. Currently, the only other Florida franchises are in Lakewood Ranch and Winter Park.

"I'm so excited to bring it to Wesley Chapel and the Tampa community," Harris said.

Barre3 offers 60 minute, full-body workouts that combine strength, conditioning, cardio and mindfulness. Rooted in ballet barre, pilates and yoga, the low impact workouts are good for people of all ages and fitness levels.

"Our whole mission is to teach people to be balanced in body and leave class feeling empowered from within," said Harris.

Barre3 is located at The Shoppes of New Tampa at 1940 Bruce B Downs Blvd. It is open 5:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 5:15 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, 5:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, and 8:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
