Chargers softball star Megan Reed commits to Florida

Strawberry Crest  junior SS Megan Reed, who hit nearly .500 as a sophomore, has committed to the University of Florida, her father announced.

Reed, who competes for the Gold Coast Hurricanes travel team in the summer, hit .493 with four home runs, 24 RBI and eight doubles last season. The season before, she hit .446 with two homers and 16 RBI.

This year, she's batting .364 for the Chargers, who were 4-1entering Friday night's game against Jefferson.

Oral commitments are non-binding. Reed can't formally sign a letter of intent until her senior year.
