East Lake second baseman Doug Rovello has committed to play at Fairmont State University in West Virginia.

Rovello, who missed his junior year due to injury, hit .309 with 25 runs scored and 18 RBIs this season for East Lake as the No. 2 hitter. He emerged as a team leader on a team that went 24-4 and advanced to the second round of the region playoffs.

"He was the heart and soul of our team,'' East Lake coach Dan Genna said. "He is extremely positive and a great teammate.''

Fairmont State was 23-25 this season while playing in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, a Division II conference.
