East Lake athlete George Campbell, ranked as the top receiver in the Class of 2015, provided a glimpse of how his recruiting is shaping up by unveiling a top 10 list of schools he is considering.
The list is heavy on state schools with Florida, FSU, Miami and UCF all making the cut. The others in Campbell’s top 10 are: Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.
“I just wanted to narrow it down to the ones I’m looking at for now, but things could change,” Campbell said.
Campbell had a remarkable sophomore season with 766 yards receiving and five touchdowns. He missed spring football after having surgery on his left wrist April 19. He is expected to return within the next few weeks.
“I was tough sitting out,” Campbell said. “I want get back out there as soon as possible. I can’t wait.”
Campbell said he also will resume playing basketball with the Florida Elite 17-under team, which recently won the Chicago Classic. The Florida Elite team includes Largo two-sport star Donavan Hale, who s taking over the as Packers’ quarterback this season.
As far as visits, Campbell said he will map out his summer plans soon. He did confirm that he will join teammates Artavis Scott and Mason Cole at Michigan’s Big House BBQ in July.
“I want to get the process going, and I would really like to pick a school before the start of my senior season,” Campbell said. “It would be nice to have that out of the way.”
