PINELLAS PARK — Pinellas Park not only won its homecoming game Friday 35-21 over Dixie Hollins, but it is off to its best start (5-0) since 1997.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Patriots exploded in the second. Pierre Johnson scored on a 10-yard touchdown run, then dashed into the end zone untouched for a 44-yard score minutes later to put the Patriots up 14-0.

Donte Maxson waltzed to pay dirt on a 42-yard run of his own to elevate the lead 21-0. Tyrie Adams connected with Marcus Smith on a 10-yard pass to finally put the Rebels (2-2) on the scoreboard right before halftime.

Patriots quarterback Angel Addison zipped around the right end in the third quarter for a 47-yard run to build a large lead at 27-7.

In the fourth the Rebels started to make plays as Adams tossed touchdowns of 10 and 5 yards to Smith and Davontae Harrington.

“We played hard but we got a little sloppy in the final quarter,” coach Kenny Crawford said.

The Patriots had four backs who rushed for at least 75 yards each. Johnson led the way with 11 carries for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
