Times’ volleyball super 7
Records through Thursday
1. Berkeley Prep (4-1): The Buccaneers are intent on playing the best talent around, even if it means going well outside county lines . Coach John Coup said he thinks, at its best, his team can play with anybody, and it appears  he might be right.
2. Durant (6-0): Durant wants to be back at the volleyball dynasty level. The Cougars proved they might be on their way by winning last weekend’s Holy Names Invitational, going 5-0 in the two-day tournament.
3. Academy of the Holy Names (5-2): AHN beat Plant in its host tournament and took a game against a solid Durant team in the championship match. With college volleyball-bound Courtney Vogler on the court, the Jaguars should continue their strong streak.
4. Plant (4-1): Plant finished third in the talent-stacked AHN tournament, and appears  in good position to rebound from its out-of-the-ordinary rough 2012 season .
5. Steinbrenner (6-1): Steinbrenner has barely dropped games, much less matches,  so far. The Warriors are still stacked from last season and appear to be in good shape for a repeat district title.
6. Bloomingdale (5-1): The Bulls have knocked out a lot of teams in the early going, but will see their first big test Tuesday when Plant comes to play.
7. Tampa Catholic (5-4): The Crusaders have four losses — against some of the best teams in the county: Plant, Berkeley Prep, Durant and AHN. They sure haven’t taken the easy road  this season.
In the conversation: King (5-0), Wharton (4-3), Tampa Prep (3-3), Freedom (4-1), Strawberry Crest (4-1), Plant City (2-2), East Bay (1-1)
