Leto tailback Andre Simpson, the Falcons' top rusher each of the last two seasons, said Thursday he has committed to Gattaca Football, a unique postgraduate club program in Trenton, N.J.
The club is designed to assist high school and junior college-level players in getting recruiting by a two- or four-year school. It competes against prep school, junior college and NCAA junior varsity teams.
Simpson will receive a partial scholarship, meaning the program will finance his education at nearby Mercer County Community College. If he remains a part-time MCCC student, Simpson's NCAA eligibility won't start while he competes for Gattaca.
The bellcow of the Falcons' offense the last two years, Simpson (6-foot, 192 pounds) collected more than 1,400 yards during that span.
