QB Ty Tanner has transferred from Wesley Chapel to Zephyrhills, Bulldogs coach Reggie Roberts confirmed in a text message Thursday morning.

Tanner, a 5-foot-8, 150-pound athlete, had a solid but injury-plagued sophomore season.

He completed 59 percent of his passes for 445 yards while racking up 275 rushing yards. He threw four TD passes, rushed for three more scores and caught two TD passes.

Tanner’s older brother, Keegan, quarterbacked the Wildcats before becoming a receiver at Stetson.

Tanner’s transfer gives the Bulldogs two dual-threat options. Last year’s Zephyrhills starter, sophomore Mike Smith, threw 12 TD passes and rushed for three more. He’s also versatile enough to line up at safety.
