A few recruiting tidbits from the North Suncoast:
* Anclote lineman Josh Parsons has orally committed to Webber International, he announced via Twitter this weekend. Parsons, a 6-foot, 235-pound two-way lineman, racked up 52 tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble during his senior season. He also had four pancake blocks on offense.
Parsons was a second-team all-conference pick this fall and a key part of the Sharks’ first playoff run in program history.
* Springstead lineman Ethan Kemp has orally committed to Springfield (Mass.) College, Eagles assistant Dustin Kupcik announced this weekend.
Kemp received NCAA Division II interest but chose to head to the D-III program in New England, where he is from and still has family. The 5-foot-11, 278-pound senior was an integral part of the Eagles’ powerful ground game that helped Springstead win its first district title since 1996.
* Bishop McLaughlin sophomore Alyssa Mathis has already picked up two offers in volleyball: Wake Forest and San Diego State, Hurricanes coach Doug Chinchar said in an email.
Mathis, a 6-foot outside hitter and first-team all-North Suncoast selection, recently visited San Diego State and Tennessee.
* Hernando OL Connor Foradas attended junior days at FIU and FAU and is also receiving interest from Middle Tennessee State. The Blue Raiders have also shown interest in Anclote RB Willie Barrett and K CJ Peppe.
