Academy at the Lakes senior softball player Lauren Evans signed with USF on Wednesday. Evans initially committed to USF a few weeks into her sophomore season.
"I've been waiting forever," she said with a laugh.
Evans led Pasco County with a .661 batting average going into her sophomore year and was the Times' player of the year following that season. She averaged .610 last season.
Evans said she chose USF because it's close to home and she grew up watching the team. She likes the coaching staff there, and though she hopes to start in her first season, she's happy to take time to earn her place.
Evans is considering a major in radiology, though she's still open to other fields.
