The actor playing the villain for the Avengers sequel has been announced, in the form of James Spader as the killer robot Ultron. Yeah, we still woulda preferred something with Thanos in it.

Marvel revealed the casting Thursday, saying Avengers: Age of Ultron will bow May 1, 2015. There were suprisingly few other details provided, so geeking out about this one will be fun.

There's no indication whether Spader will simply provide the voice for the artificial intelligence, or director Joss Whedon is going to have Ultron be a little more cyborg than robot. One particularly nerdy theory says that since Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark has a robot helper named JARVIS instead of a human butler named Jarvis, that may be a hint Stark is going to build Ultron. Seems legit. Told you it was going to get geeky here.
