Lee Roy Selmon Jr. part of USF's Big 12 presentation

Former USF DL Lee Roy Selmon Jr., whose father helped launch the Bulls football program and guide it into Division I, was a significant part of the school's formal presentation to Big 12 officials in Dallas on Friday.

Selmon Jr., whose dad was a consensus All-American at Oklahoma in 1975, spoke on behalf of USF in a video that highlighted the presentation (which you can watch below).

Friday's presentation nearly coincided with the five-year anniversary of Lee Roy Selmon's death following a massive stroke at age 56. The younger Selmon spent the 1999-2000 and 2003-04 seasons with the Bulls.

USF was among the last of 11 Big 12 expansion candidates to make its formal presentation. Whether the conference expands by two our four teams -- or at all -- remains unclear.

In July, the board of directors unanimously agreed to let Commissioner Bob Bowlsby explore candidates for expansion. The board of directors meets Oct. 17, but Oklahoma president David Boren said Wednesday expansion isn't a certainty.

"I'm not saying there won't be expansion," Boren said. "But I'm not saying it can be automatically assumed that there will be expansion."
