After a five-year absence, Busch Gardens is bringing back Grad Nite this spring, giving high school seniors the chance to have a night in the park to themselves.

Both Busch Gardens and SeaWorld will host two Grad Nites apiece in April.

The catch might be that tickets have to be purchased through a student’s school, and many schools started the school year promising no off-site events. The deadline to apply is April 2.

For every 10 kids who sign up, a chaperone gets a free ticket.

“It’s been a wild ride for the class of 2021, but now high school graduates can take their celebration to new heights at Florida’s thrill ride leader,” Busch Gardens posted on its website.

For two Fridays in April, the 16th and the 23rd, students will have the park from 7 p.m. to midnight. They are allowed early admission at 5 p.m. At SeaWorld Orlando, Grad Nites for 12th graders will be April 23 and 30.

Busch Gardens hosted both 12th and eighth-grade Grad Nite events for several years but stopped after 2016.

Individual registration is not available. Students must register through a school. The cost is $69.99 per person, which includes a meal voucher and drink at select restaurants.

The event dress code prohibits any hats or school-identifying apparel. Additional security and uniformed police officers will be at the park during the event.

Chaperones receive some perks. In addition to the free ticket, their yellow wristband will give them access to an exclusive lounge with free beverages and unlimited front-of-the-line access to rides like Cheetah Hunt all night long.

Those interested should start with their school first to apply for the event. That information can be found at buschgardens.com/tampa/group-events/youth-events/grad-nite.
