Clearwater Marine Aquarium is set to open the new exhibit “Whales: Living with Giants” on March 21. Guests should be ready to virtually dive into the undersea world of whales through educational multi-media exhibits, an underwater virtual reality experience, a walk-through, life-sized whale gallery and an interactive kid’s zone. The new exhibit will take up 20,000 square feet in the aquarium’s welcome center.
In conjunction with the new exhibit, guests will enter a virtual reality theater to take on the role of a marine biologist and be immersed into the world of giant humpback whales and other undersea wildlife.
“This exhibit brings our guests into an undersea experience where they come eye to eye with a wide variety of whale species found in Florida waters,” said Dr. James “Buddy” Powell, executive director of CMA’s Research Institute. “It’s especially timely with the recent ground-breaking discovery of an entirely new whale species not far from CMA off the Florida gulf coast.”
Both attractions will be available through Aug. 31.
