Inclusivitea, a new sex-positive tea shop in St. Petersburg, invites patrons to sip coffee and tea while they shop for adult sex toys. It’s part of a plan to make it easier to obtain information on sex and sex health in a subtle way, organizers said.

Metro Inclusive Health, an LGBTQ-focused community health center, calls the shop, “part WiFi tea cafe, sexual health clinic and adult and Pride retail experience.”

In addition to the retail section, there is health information and even HIV testing offered at the shop.

“We wanted to have a subtler way to invite people in to learn about Metro’s health services and in particular HIV services, as HIV rates have been rising in the area,” said Brian Bailey, chief marketing and experience officer for Metro Inclusive Health. “A cafe is perfect for that.”

Located in the heart of the Grand Central District at 2235 Central Ave., Inclusivitea offers coffee, tea, mocktails and baked goods. However, it also features a large retail shop with sex toys and Pride merchandise.

“It’s designed to make it a more comfortable opportunity to browse adult merchandise rather than be in a sex shop,” Bailey said. “It’s all imported, higher-end merchandise that you really can’t get anywhere else.”

The cafe also offers HIV testing, information on more than 100 services provided at all area Metro Health locations, a WiFi accessible work space and two medical exam rooms.

“We’re really just trying to create a more relaxed and inviting opportunity to have a conversation about sexual health,” Bailey said.
