In her first extended interview since news of their divorce, supermodel Gisele Bündchen denied rumors that she and retired NFL star Tom Brady split over his decision to continue playing as quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In an interview published in Vanity Fair’s April issue, Bündchen, 42, described the speculation surrounding her split from Brady, 45, as “very hurtful” and “the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.”
“Listen, I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever,” she said. “If there’s one person I want to be the happiest in the world, it’s him, believe me.”
Bündchen and Brady finalized their divorce last October, after 13 years of marriage. The two share daughter Vivian, 10, and son Benjamin, 13, while Brady is also dad to son Jack, 15, from his relationship with actor and model Bridget Moynahan.
During their marriage, Bündchen took a step back from her high-profile modeling career, leaving New York City and moving to Boston where Brady played for the Patriots, and then Tampa, where he led the Bucs to a Super Bowl championship in 2021.
According the article, she is reigniting the fashion career in a high-profile campaign for Louis Vuitton and shoe brand Arezzo. Meanwhile, she has been splitting her time between Miami and her home in Costa Rica.
“When I was 26 years old and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together,” she said. “As time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make. That doesn’t mean you don’t love the person.”
