Visual arts in Tampa Bay have been making a steady comeback. November brings three art festivals, a major Van Gogh exhibition and a number of gallery shows. But things are happening with safety in mind, so there are still mask and social distancing requirements. Check with each venue before going.
Shine Mural Festival
This special edition of Shine is called Sea Walls: St. Petersburg, and for the first time it features a lineup of all Florida artists, including locals Bask, iBoms and Nneka Jones. From Nov. 7-14, they’ll paint murals that highlight concerns in local waters, including sea level rise, plastic pollution and algae blooms. For a map of locations, visit stpeteartsalliance.com.
That Art Festival
This family- and pet-friendly outdoor event at Jannus Live features local artists, live painting graffiti and murals, kids activities and a DJ. ‘In the Clouds’ at Mize Gallery
Gallery owner Chad Mize invited artists to riff on the concepts of “head in the clouds,” “on cloud nine” or actual clouds. The group show opens with a virtual reception on Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. on Facebook (facebook.com/mizegallery) and at 7 p.m. on Instagram (instagram.com/mizegallery). On view through Nov. 21. Free. Creative Pinellas' Arts Annual Festival
The celebration of local artists includes visual art, music, dance, poetry and short film. The festival will be held at the Gallery at Creative Pinellas from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 15, as well as online. Tickets are $25. 12211 Walsingham Road, Largo. creativepinellas.org.
St. Petersburg’s Second Saturday ArtWalk
Dozens of galleries open their doors from 5-9 p.m. Nov. 14. Among the many exhibits to check out is “All That Visual Jazz,” the Studio@620′s third consecutive celebration of legendary local photographer Herb Snitzer, featuring his portraits of jazz giants (620 First Ave. S, thestudioat620.org). From there, hop over to the Morean Arts Center for “Spread Joy,” the annual holiday member’s show and sale (719 Central Ave., moreanartscenter.org). Artists Judy Vienneau and Carole Shelton traded techniques in metal art for their exhibition “Role Reversal” at St. Pete Artworks (2412 Central Ave., stpeteartworks-onlinestore.com).

The St. Petersburg fine craft gallery’s Holiday Boutique is open, featuring handmade items and ornaments, through Dec. 31. Arlene Richardson at Tarpon Art Guild
An exhibition of award-winning painter Arlene Richardson’s oil landscapes are on display at the Tarpon Arts Guild, where they will remain on view through the end of November. Free. Van Gogh Alive
The highly anticipated multimedia exhibition that projects some of Vincent van Gogh’s most beloved paintings on the walls and the floor opens to the public at the Dalí Museum on Nov. 21. Remains on display through April 11, 2021. $25, $23 seniors/military/police/firefighters/educators, $18 students/kids 13-17, $10 kids age 6-12, free for children 5 and younger. After 5 p.m. Thursdays, $12, $8 kids 6-12. 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday, with special hours for seniors from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday-Thursday. Epic Art Show
Tampa boutique hotel the Epicurean presents a showcase of local artists including Briauna Walker, Langstn and Carrie Kilgore. Enjoy a free glass of wine while perusing the works.
