This year, the Tampa Bay Times Festival of Reading is going virtual. And festival favorite Carl Hiaasen is stepping up to help support it with a ticketed virtual event at 7 p.m. Sept. 10.

In a livestream interview, I’ll talk to him about his new novel, Squeeze Me. It’s set in Palm Beach and includes the president and first lady among its characters, so he just might have something to say about the news, too. He’ll also be taking questions from the audience.

Tickets for the virtual event are $40 and include one copy of Squeeze Me. Proceeds beyond the book and shipping costs benefit the free Festival of Reading.

To purchase a ticket, go to festivalofreading.com. You’ll receive an email with a link to join the livestreamed event and a book.

The 2020 Times Festival of Reading will take place Nov. 12-14 at festivalofreading.com. It will feature virtual interviews and panel discussions with authors, both live and recorded. Among the authors already confirmed for this year’s festival are Colson Whitehead, James Lee Burke, Michael Connelly, Mary Kay Andrews, Walter Mosley, Laura Lippman, Lisa Unger and Maggie O’Farrell. We’ll be announcing the full roster of authors in September.
