The Oxford Exchange presents a panel discussion about depicting powerful women in today’s historical fiction by Vanessa Riley (”Murder at Westminster”), Piper Huguley (”By Her Own Design”) and Denny S. Bryce (”In the Face of the Sun”) at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the bookstore, 420 W Kennedy Blvd., Tampa. Tickets $5 at oxfordexchange.com/pages/calendar.

Tampa author Kenny Coogan will discuss and sign his new book, “Florida’s Carnivorous Plants: Understanding, Identifying, and Cultivating the State’s Native Species,” at 4 p.m. Sept. 18 at Hooch and Hive, 1001 W Cass St., Tampa. Free.
