St. Petersburg theater company American Stage has spent the past year presenting the experience of live theater virtually. Now, its Pop Up! Performance series brings live theater to audiences in person again. Uncaged, the first in the series, happens outdoors at the Factory St. Pete from May 14-16.

The show promises to bring the funny, with sketches written by improv duo Gavin Hawk and Ricky Wayne. The cast will perform songs and comedic vignettes, along with some improv.

Cast member Donovan Whitney said he’s missed the reciprocal energy between audiences and performers that’s been lost during the pandemic.

“We can’t wait to see everybody,” he said. “It’s been a long time since we’ve seen faces.”
