Comedian and actor Roseanne Barr is bringing a new live show to Clearwater’s Capitol Theatre on Saturday, Oct. 21. Tickets go on sale Friday. The show is intended for mature audiences only.
Always somewhat of a polarizing figure, Barr’s groundbreaking sitcom “Roseanne” dominated prime time from 1988-1997. The depiction of the working class Conner family resonated with viewers and prompted Entertainment Weekly to compare it to “All in the Family.”
“Roseanne” made a brief comeback to television in 2018, until Barr made a racist tweet about former White House staffer Valerie Jarrett and the show was canceled. Barr apologized publicly. Later that year, the show “The Conners” continued to focus on the family but killed off Barr’s character. It was renewed for another season in May.
Barr is also a best-selling author and was a presidential candidate in 2012.
