A new opportunity is on the horizon for students in fourth through 12th grade who may have the acting bug. For the first time ever, the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts is putting on a musical theater summer camp culminating in the production of “Seussical Jr.”
There are spots available for 50 campers. Every camper will be cast in the show and no prior experience is necessary.
The brainchild of education and outreach coordinator Katrina Young, the camp will be held at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg and will give professional instruction in acting, singing, dancing and set design activities.
The camp runs from July 17-21 and July 24-28, from 8 a.m.-4 pm. with aftercare available until 6 p.m. The performances will be open to the public on July 28 and 29 at the Mahaffey Theater.
Scholarships are available for campers based on both financial need and talent. To apply for a scholarship, visit mahaffeyclassacts.org/scholarships. For more information and registration, visit mahaffeyclassacts.org or contact Katrina Young at 727-304-5275.
