The pandemic has left thousands of people out of work and relying on donations of food. Tampa-based Metropolitan Ministries provides food and other services to so many in-need residents of Tampa Bay.
Now Hooters Management Corp., another Tampa Bay-based business, has partnered with Metropolitan Ministries to create the Round Up program at all Tampa Bay locations of Hooters and Hoots, the chain’s fast-casual concept. Guests can “round up” the amount of their bill or select an amount of their choice to donate to Metropolitan Ministries.
In a news release announcing the program, Tim Marks, Metropolitan Ministries president and CEO, praised the program and said it shows how much the community and the restaurant group care about Tampa Bay families.
“We’ve seen thousands of families asking for help in the wake of COVID-19, but we’ve been able to answer the call thanks to your support," he said in the release. "Let’s keep spreading hope and changing lives together.”
Hooters also partnered with Metropolitan Ministries to help with Thanksgiving turkey distributions, donations and volunteers.
“Now more than ever, our local food banks need our support," Denise Williams, Hooters Management Corp. chief marketing officer, said in the release. “We wanted to get involved with the Round Up program to help raise funds and fight hunger in our community.”
