Health care workers have been heroes during the pandemic. So with the holidays on the horizon, U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist has created a way to honor them.

“I’ve received countless calls and emails from constituents sharing words of support for our healthcare heroes over the past nine months,” Crist said in a news release. “Those messages inspired me to create a Virtual Holiday Card to share our gratitude — neighbor to neighbor.”

Pinellas residents are asked to submit videos expressing holiday greetings for health care workers. The videos will be compiled together and shared with health care workers during a live virtual event 10 a.m. Dec. 22 on Zoom and on Congressman Crist’s Facebook page at facebook.com/RepCharlieCrist.

“The holidays are a time for gratitude — gratitude for what we have, gratitude for the challenges we’ve overcome, and gratitude for the people who’ve helped us along the way,” Crist said in the release. “This year, our nation owes a debt of gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and health care workers who’ve made tremendous sacrifices to save American lives from this pandemic.”

To participate in the Virtual Holiday Card for Healthcare Heroes, residents must:

1. Record a 10- to 15-second video sharing a short holiday greeting for Pinellas health care workers. Participants should start their videos by introducing themselves, sharing their first name and city. Videos can be addressed generally, or to specific family members or friends working in health care. Videos should be recorded in a quiet, well-lit space. Videos with political language or curse words cannot be accepted.

2. Upload their video to the Vidday platform at share.vidday.com/t-n86zql. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18.
