The 16th season of The Bachelorette returns to ABC on Oct. 13. Thirty-one men will begin the competition for love with this season’s bachelorette Clare Crawley, including Tampa Bay native Robby Stahl.
Here’s what we know about the reality show dating contestant.
He’s a local, though he doesn’t show it.
Stahl, 31, grew up in St. Petersburg before playing D1 baseball at Florida State University. After years of modeling in New York City, he now splits his time between Los Angeles and Tampa, where he is assistant vice president of his family’s business, Stahl & Associates Insurance.
His parents appear to live in St. Pete Beach. He visited them in April, and sent flowers to his mom Kathy on Mother’s Day.
Other than a few Instagram Stories showing palm trees and the rare appearance in St. Pete Beach on his mom’s Instagram, his social media makes almost no reference to Florida. What would a hometown date look like? Where are you hanging out? Reveal yourself, Robby!
He’s modeled quite a bit.
Stahl says his greatest accomplishment is modeling for GQ (including appearing in an issue starring Tampa’s favorite resident, Tom Brady). He has also modeled in advertisements for Stetson (the hat company, not the university), Cadillac and Skoal smokeless tobacco. Will he be spitting lumps of chewing tobacco into water bottles during his dates?
He’s also dabbled in acting.
According to IMDb, Stahl wrote, produced and starred in a short film called Tonight at the Chateau. He also appeared in commercials and a web series called Breaking In.
Recently, Stahl appeared in a 2019 film called The Favorite that was filmed in Pinellas County. His next acting project, a movie called Blindfire, is coming to select theaters on Nov. 13 and Digital and VOD on Nov. 20.
He’s a family man.
According to ABC, Stahl is “very close with his family, naming them the people he admires most in the world.” His parents have been married for three decades and set the bar high.
He is apparently also sentimental. ABC says he still has a blanket that his first girlfriend made for him.
He loves being outdoors.
According to his ABC profile, Stahl’s “dream woman is incredibly athletic and able to throw back a few beers with him after a day of hiking.”
Many of Stahl’s recent Instagram photos are with family members at the Yellowstone Club, “the world’s only private members-only ski and golf community.” At the Montana resort, he seems to enjoy snowboarding, golfing and boxing. He was also on the cover of the Yellowstone Club winter guide in 2019, per his dad’s Instagram.
He’s not the first local to step into the Bachelor Nation.
Stahl will be joined this season by USF alum Garin Flowers, a journalism professor who lives in North Hollywood. In 2018, Connor Jordan Obrochta competed on The Bachelorette for the love of Becca Kufrin. Tampa plastic surgery office manager Astrid Loch competed on season 21 of the Bachelor in 2017 and season 5 of the Bachelor in Pardise in 2018. And in 2014, Tampa native Josh Murray won The Bachelorette, though he split with Andi Dorfman four months later.
He hates iced tea.
Maybe he doesn’t deserve a rose after all.
