Disney announced today that the next step in its phased reopening will bring back park-hopping, beginning Jan. 1. Guests who purchase a ticket or annual pass with the option will once again be able to visit more than one Walt Disney World theme park in a day.
Since reopening in July, Disney has required guests to purchase a ticket and make a reservation for one park only. Starting in January, guests holding tickets with the park-hopping option can make a reservation at one park and also enter another park after 2 p.m. the same day. The initial reservation must be used before another park entry will be allowed.
This modified version of park-hopping would allow guests to ride Haunted Mansion in the Magic Kingdom early in the morning then, depending on capacity, close out their day with a drink and dinner at Epcot.
“With the updated Park Hopper experience, guests must make a Disney Park Pass reservation for the first park they plan to visit AND enter that first park prior to visiting another. At this time, a park reservation is not required after the first park. Please note that the ability to visit another park will be subject to the park’s capacity limitations,” stated the Disney Parks Blog.
