Super Greek Festival: The three-day indoor/outdoor celebration of everything Greek includes fresh Greek food, DJ dancing in an outdoor party tent, a 7,500-square-foot taverna, youth dance groups, language lessons, beer and wine. The Florida Orchestra: Carmina Burana: The orchestra starts its season off with this musical drama, an epic that has become the inspirational soundtrack for everything from Tampa Bay Buccaneers games to commercials and movies such as “The Hunt for Red October.” Featuring the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay. One hour before the concert, get the story behind the composers and their music, straight from the conductor and guest soloists. $18-$60. 8 p.m. Friday. Scarecrow Festival: Celebrate the fall season as you visit this pumpkin patch with a festival including arts and crafts vendors, pumpkin painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, games, dancing scarecrows, blacksmith demonstration, soccer collies and the “Sphere Bubble Show” (10 a.m. and 1 p.m. only). $10, $5 children, 4 and younger free. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Franzini Family Science Circus: The Franzini Family Science Circus uses circus props and transforms them into objects of scientific concern to stimulate thought, interest and a better understanding of science for grades K-5. Includes an investigation of astronomy in which Lippo arrives atop the giant rolling globe “SUN” and rides through the solar system on a unicycle. Oktoberfest Tampa: The waterfront park is transformed into a giant outdoor biergarten for the 12th annual festival with live music, dancing, a Bavarian food hall, games, alp horns, contests for stein hoisting, keg stacking, tug-o-war, brat toss, carry the wench and a full lineup of German beers. $10, free military/ages 12 and younger. 4-11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Straz Center Block Party: The Straz Center kicks off its season with a free block party to show a sampling of the entertainment to come. There will be live music, dance, circus, visual art, local artisans, food, drinks and more. Performers include Roxx Revolt and The Velvets, selections from Opera Tampa, variety shows hosted by Matt McGee and Kidchella and a silent disco. Free. 3-6 p.m. Sunday. Roller Derby: Revolution Roller Derby presents a battle between their mixed-gender team, Mom & Pop’s Militia, and a mashup of skaters from all over Florida.
