A new music-focused cocktail lounge is opening at Water Street Tampa

A new music-focused cocktail lounge will join the restaurants, hotels and residences at Water Street Tampa early next year.

Alter Ego will be locally owned and operated by the Proper House Group, which includes partners Ferrell Alvarez, Chon Nguyen and Ty Rodriguez, the folks behind Seminole Heights restaurant Rooster and the Till.

It will be located in the Asher Residences apartment building at 1050 Water St., next to the group’s forthcoming restaurant Ash, which is also set to open in early 2024. Alter Ego will be Proper House Group’s fifth concept at Water Street Tampa, also joining Sparkman Wharf spots Gallito Taqueria, Dang Dude and Lunch Lady.

“Alter Ego will be a music-forward cocktail lounge, offering an energetic vibe and proper, soulful hospitality,” Alvarez said in a news release. “The space represents a distinct design contrast to our adjacent sibling concept Ash. Boasting a curated musical experience alongside a monochromatic design that includes intimate seating as well as social spaces.”
