Tiger Woods is expanding his chain of golf entertainment centers — called PopStroke — that include high-concept putting courses, dining and playgrounds. Orlando and Tampa are getting storefronts in the next few years.
PopStroke Entertainment, co-owned by Woods and Wall Street veteran Greg Bartoli, has announced that new property agreements have been signed for seven locations in Florida, Arizona and Texas. A Wesley Chapel location at Cypress Creek Town Center is expected to open by the summer of 2022.
Other new Florida locations include Waterford Lakes in Orlando, the University Town Center in Sarasota and in Delray Beach.
Unlike the windmills and alligator jaws of old-fashioned putt-putt courses, each location has two 18-hole mini golf courses designed by Tiger Woods and his TGR Design team. There are Augusta-like holes created in miniature that incorporate fairways, bunkers and rough as seen on traditional golf courses.
The Tiger Course is designed to challenge experienced putters, with tricky hole locations. The Cub Course’s softened contours and less bunkering is aimed for kids, families and anyone new to golf.
PopStroke, which was founded in 2018, currently has storefronts in Port St. Lucie and Fort Myers.
“I am very excited about our expansion plans,” Woods said in a press release. “Putting is a universal part of golf that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. It has been rewarding to see the broad and diverse group of guests enjoying their experience at PopStroke, and I look forward to seeing players make those long putts in locations throughout the South and Southwest.”
Woods said each location course design will be unique. They also feature an outdoor dining area, a variety of craft beers, wine, cocktails, ice cream, outdoor games and a playground.
Facilities in Sarasota are expected to open in December, and in Orlando by February of next year, the company said, with Delray Beach and Tampa toward the middle of 2022.
