Fans of Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison will have another chance to see him perform when he returns to Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall on Feb. 14-15, 2022.
Morrison has a history of selling out multiple performances at Ruth Eckerd Hall. In 2017, he sold out three dates, 20 years after his record-breaking four-concert sellout in 1997. He hadn’t played the venue prior to those dates since the 1970s.
Since his solo career began in 1967, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and six-time Grammy Award winner has released many albums full of hits, including the songs Brown Eyed Girl, Into the Mystic, Wild Night and Moondance. Fans should expect to hear new music on this tour, too. In May, he released a double album, Latest Music Project Volume I, described on his website as a “28-track delving into his ongoing love of blues, R&B, jazz and soul.”
According to Rolling Stone, last year he released a string of digital antilockdown singles that were critical of the U.K. government. Born to be Free, As I Walked Out and No More Lockdown drew the ire of Northern Ireland’s health minister, Robin Swann. He collaborated with Eric Clapton on another antilockdown song, Stand and Deliver.
Tickets are $98.75, $142.75, $198.75 and $272.75 for the 2022 shows and go on sale to Ruth Eckerd Hall members June 14 and to the public June 18. Health and safety protocols are still in place at the venue. Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 727-791-7400 or by visiting rutheckerdhall.com.
