Alt rockers Modest Mouse, a respected band with a cult following, will play Jannus Live in St. Petersburg on Oct. 16, one of the first big bookings for the downtown venue since the pandemic shut down concerts.

The Portland-based band recently announced plans to release a new album, The Golden Casket, and it released a new song, We Are Between, on May 5.

The band has rabid fans, but only modest mainstream success, the lone exception being Modest Mouse’s 2004 hit Float On. But their last appearances in Tampa Bay, at 2015′s Gasparilla Music Festival and a 2016 tour with Brand New, were sold-out spectacles.

Tickets go on sale at Ticketmaster at 10 a.m. Friday and start at $37.50.

Another show that may sell out quickly is the rescheduled pop-punk concert at Jannus Live by New Found Glory and A Simple Plan on Oct. 14. Tickets for that show also go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at jannuslive.com.
