More than 10 years since The Orpheum moved from its intimate location on Avenida Republica de Cuba to a larger space on Seventh Avenue, its owners have announced they will not be renewing their lease in Ybor City.

They have plans to move the live music venue to a new location in the spring.

In a lengthy, gratitude-filled post, owner Jerry Dufrain wrote, “I met artists and musicians and so many people who love live music in Ybor City. I’m grateful for all of them. I’m grateful for the opportunity I was given when I bought the business that I had worked at for years. I’m grateful for my partner Dave, who has allowed me to build The Orpheum into what it is.”

It continued: “After 20 years and thousands of shows, The Orpheum will be bidding you all a fond farewell. We plan on moving into a new space in the Spring. Until then we hope to see you all at the shows we have coming up and hopefully we can have the best time ever. Each show is gonna feel a little more special knowing that it will be the last one in The Orpheum on 7th Avenue. Thank you all!”

Owners could not be reached for comment at the time of publication. Stay tuned for what’s next for the beloved venue.
