Despite all the rumors and speculation, Amanda Bynes' mom says the actress who was forcibly hospitalized for erratic behavior last July has "no mental illness whatsoever," saying "she has never been diagnosed as schizophrenic or bipolar."
Lynn Bynes tells E! News all the cray Amanda unleashed upon the world was simply a result of her pot habit. So that DUI in 2012 and the time she allegedly threw a bong out a 36th-story window and all those super-bizarre tweets? The green. Definitely just the green.
Lynn says Amanda "is very sorry for all the hurtful tweets, statements and actions that occurred while she was under the influence of marijuana."
Amanda's lawyer Tamar Arminak is getting in on the action, too, telling People, "She asked me to dispel certain rumors. For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia, nor has she ever been diagnosed with it."
The 28-year-old actress has been attending fashion school and recently tweeted photos of herself sunbathing during a vacation with her parents in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Amanda "continues to undergo outpatient therapy several times a week," a family source says. "She's still working through the causes of her past bizarre behavior."
But … didn't they established it was the pot?
"Amanda currently is on zero medication," Arminak says. "She's devoted to living her life as healthy as possible. She's never had a history of abusing alcohol or hard drugs, and she's proud to say she's been marijuana-free for the past nine months."
Bynes will remain under her parents' control until at least September. She's been living with her folks in L.A., and Arminak says "her primary focus is bonding with her family and being a student."
Can't knock that.
