A pair of exquisite singer-songwriters have just announced concerts at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater.

Nineties chanteuse and mother of Lilith Fair Sarah McLachlan will bring her new tour to Ruth Eckerd on Feb. 27. It's billed as "an intimate evening of songs and storytelling," and will be her first local show since 2015, when it made our list of the best local shows of that year. Tickets to this one start at $50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Click here for details.

Meanwhile, looking a year into the future, legendary singer-songwriter John Prine will perform a semi-hometown show in Clearwater on Dec. 7, 2019. We're in the middle of a Prineaissance, as the part-time Gulfport resident's first album in 13 years, The Tree of Forgiveness, has received wide acclaim and earned three Grammy nominations. Tickets are $77 and up and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. Click here for details.

If you're looking for a bonus reason to get tickets to Prine's show, know that his last two Ruth Eckerd Hall gigs have not only sold out, but featured unannounced surprise guests Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson. Not a bad way to spend an evening.

And if you're looking for a bonus reason to go see McLachlan, well, we don't know what to tell you. She's just magical. There's no mystery to un-build around that.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this article misstated the title of Prine's new album. The error has been corrected.
