It's been 34 years since Madonna last played Tampa. The way things are going, it may be another 34 years before she comes back.
But at least we know she'll play in Florida this year.
The Mother of Reinvention announced Monday that her forthcoming Madame X Tour will include multiple nights in Florida. Sadly, it's not likely that any of them will be in Tampa, or even Orlando. But Madonna will always have love for Miami -- even on a tour that promises to be more intimate than anything she's done in years.
Instead of arenas and stadiums, Madonna will play multiple concerts in various theaters on the upcoming run, including stints at New York's BAM Howard Gilman Opera House (Sept. 12-Oct. 1), Chicago's Chicago Theatre (Oct. 15-21) and Los Angeles's Wiltern (Nov. 12-25). According to her website, Madonna will add "multiple nights of shows" in other cities, including Boston, Philadelphia, Las Vegas and Miami.
The Miami shows will take place at the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theatre sometime this fall, although no exact dates have yet been announced. They'll be sold via Ticketmaster Verified Fan, so you might as well sign up here to stay up to date.
Madonna's new album Madame X will have at least one strong South Florida connection. Her new single I Rise begins with a spoken-word sample of Emma Gonzalez, the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School student who rose to international prominence in the wake of last year's school shooting massacre in Parkland.
