October in Florida might not quite be barefoot, blue-jean weather. But it'll be a Barefoot Blue Jean Night when this year's Tampa Pig Jig takes over Curtis Hixon Park.

Country star Jake Owen will headline this year's ninth annual Pig Jig, Oct. 19 in downtown Tampa. ACM Award-winning country group Lanco will also perform, as will indie rockers Dr. Dog. More acts will be added to the lineup in the months to come.

The fest has come a long way since it started as a backyard barbecue as a way to raise money for a rare kidney disorder known as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, or FSGS. Over the years, organizers have raised more than $4 million for the nonprofit NephCure Kidney International. They've also dished out quite a lot of good barbecue and even inspired a local craft beer.

Tickets to this year's Pig Jig are $25 in advance, $40 the day of the show, and they go on sale June 21. Packages including a $50 "Beer + Barbecue" ticket and $125 VIP pass are also available. Click here for details.
