Ever wondered what goes on during contest judging?

Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Tom French and former Washington Post executive editor Len Downie share thoughts on what it takes to win: WriteLane podcast

This year’s Scripps Howard Awards were judged at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in St. Petersburg. That gave us a chance to interview some of the judges about the work they saw and what they want to see when they’re comparing stories and projects.

Tom French’s Pulitzer-winning project is available online from the Tampa Bay Times: Angels & Demons.

A new episode of WriteLane is available each Wednesday morning on the Times’ website and a variety of places, including iTunes. Go here to listen and subscribe for free on the Podcasts app and iTunes. If you like the show, be sure to leave us a review.
