REI Co-op headed to Midtown Tampa
Specialty outdoor retailer REI Co-op will open its first store the west coast of Florida at the $550 million Midtown Tampa project near West Shore, developers said Thursday.
REI Co-op, the nation’s largest consumer cooperative, will open a 22,500-square-foot store on the spot where developers on Wednesday began tearing down the old Men’s Wearhouse on N Dale Mabry Highway.

St. Petersburg pumped 6.6 million more gallons of dirty water into the Florida Aquifer over the weekend
After rain pummeled the Tampa Bay area last week, Mayor Rick Kriseman on Sunday tweeted a laudatory note about the way the city’s sewage system handled the inundation.
“Really proud of our Public Works & Water Resources for guiding our improved wastewater system through the past few weeks," the mayor tweeted, "& esp yesterday.”
Yet the day before, his sewage system pumped 6.6 million more gallons of illegal dirty water into the Florida Aquifer through an injection well.
