Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run in St. Pete

A motorcyclist was killed Saturday night after getting thrown from his bike in a fatal hit-and-run accident in St. Petersburg.

St. Petersburg police said Phillip Anderson was traveling northbound along 34 Street North with passenger, Tricia Best, around 8:20 p.m. Saturday evening. A silver sedan side-swiped the motorcycle, causing Anderson to lose control around the 1500 block of 34 Street North.

According to the crash report, Anderson and Best were thrown from the motorcycle. The sedan involved in the accident fled the scene.

Best, of St. Petersburg, was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with Anderson, of Kenneth City. Officers said Best is in stable condition, but Anderson was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police are continuing to investigate.
