TAMPA — A boy has been arrested after he confessed to setting a shed at Blake High School on fire last month, according to Tampa Fire-Rescue.
The May 16 blaze, on the school’s east campus, was quickly contained, but not before it burned a storage shed that held nearly all of the school’s football equipment.
The suspect is charged with two counts of second-degree arson and one count of burglary, according to Tampa Fire-Rescue. The agency did not release his name, citing his age.
The fire caused about $11,000 in damage, the agency said. Among the losses that coaches tallied : game-day equipment, field markers, pylons, chains, practice equipment, pop-up dummies, pads, all daily workout gear and the stencil used to put the team’s yellow jacket logo in the center of the field on game day.
