A man from Dunedin was killed Monday morning after the driver of a Ram 2500 truck collided with his motorcycle, Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies said.
The crash occurred about 9:45 a.m. Monday near 1750 Main Street in Dunedin, according to a news release from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Josue Vega-Rodriguez, 38, was driving a Harley Davidson west on Main Street while 79-year-old Larry Smith was traveling east on the same road. Smith, who is from Clearwater, turned left in front of Vega-Rodriguez to enter a parking lot, colliding with the motorcycle.
Vega-Rodriguez was transported to Northside Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Smith wasn’t injured in the crash. According to the release, investigators said speed or impairment didn’t appear to be factors. The investigation is ongoing.
