DOVER — Troopers are searching for the driver who struck and killed a man as he worked on a disabled vehicle on U.S. 92 on Monday.

The 56-year-old Plant City man was working on the vehicle in the westbound lane near Meadow Oaks Drive about 7:50 p.m. when the driver of a sedan passed the vehicle on the shoulder and struck him, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The man died at the scene and the driver of the sedan drove away.

The Highway Patrol did not release the man’s name because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law.

Troopers said the car is a silver or tan Mercury Grand Marquis from a model year between 1999 and 2002. The car has damage to its front left side and is missing a headlight.

Troopers asked anyone with information on the crash to call 813-558-1800 or Crime Stoppers at 800-873-8477.
