A pedestrian was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Plant City, according to police. Officers said they responded to a 911 call about 7:15 a.m. Sunday and found a man lying on the side of the street in the 4000 block of Airport Road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not publicly identified him.

Debris at the scene led investigators to search for a damaged Jeep Grand Cherokee. They found a vehicle matching the description on W Ball Street, they said, and arrested Miguel Rodriguez Jr., 27, in connection with the crash.

Rodriguez faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and driving while license suspended involving death or serious bodily injury, according to the Plant City Police Department.
