A Brooksville woman was found unconscious in the water near Drum Key and was later declared dead Sunday morning, according to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.

Ronda Mullin, 66, set out scalloping with her son and several others Sunday. Their vessel had set out from Bayport in Hernando County, and about 30 minutes later they found Mullin face-down in the water and unresponsive. Mullin's son performed CPR, and the sheriff's office responded to the scene just before 11 a.m.

The official cause of death is pending a determination by the medical examiner's office. The sheriff's office said there were no visible signs of trauma and nothing appeared suspicious. Mullin had "health issues," according to the news release.
