Registration for the 2018 Hillsborough County Neighborhoods Conference is open now until Sunday (May 6). The deadline was extended to May 6 to help include more residents in the Hillsborough County area in this 15th annual conference.
The Conference is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on May 12 at the Sheraton Tampa East Hotel, 10221 Princess Palm Ave. in Sabal Park. This year's theme is all about "Creating Community."
Neighborhood and community leaders can participate in increasing leadership skills with this conference. Attendees can also hear new ways to engage residents and make where they live safer and stronger and learn how to navigate processes and regulations.
Admission is free and includes continental breakfast, giveaways, access to all exhibits, valuable workshops and the annual Neighborhood Recognition Awards luncheon. The award luncheon will honor winners in a variety of categories for efforts ranging from outreach and volunteer work, to improvement projects and safety programs.
The conference workshops include leadership development and techniques, neighborhood street parking and towing regulations, code enforcement questions and answers, keeping children safe in neighborhoods, social media strategies, tips and tricks, inclusion and diversity in neighborhood engagement and more.
There will also be a roundtable discussion with Hillsborough County Administrator Mike Merrill and a Florida Board Member Certification course for new association directors.
