Police identify man who was fatally shot before crashing into a St. Petersburg garage

The man was shot a short distance from where he eventually crashed, police said. The investigation is continuing.

ST. PETERSBURG — A 19-year-old was wounded by gunfire Thursday night, then drove a short distance before crashing into a house on 38th Street S and later died, police said.

Diontae S. Burr was shot, police said, then crashed into a garage. Police did not describe the distance between the two incidents.

He was taken to a hospital for emergency medical treatment but later died there.

Police did not say what time the incident took place.
