Early morning exercisers discovered a new attraction had landed just offshore Tuesday morning near North Shore Park.

A tall solar-powered navigational buoy was sitting just a few short yards away in the water.

Sam Sturgill with the city's stormwater department said the buoy likely got loose as waterspout-generating storms rumbled across the bay Sunday and Monday nights.

He said the city had contacted the Coast Guard, and that they would be sending a vessel to tow it back out to sea.
