A pedestrian was struck and later died from her injuries after walking into the path of a vehicle Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Daniel Scott Horwitz, 51, was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound on Bruce B. Downs Blvd. north of State Road 56, authorities said. About 7:18, a 39-year-old woman attempted to cross Bruce B. Downs and walked into the path of Horwitz’s car.

The woman, whose identity has not been released by authorities pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Advent Health Wesley Chapel, where she later died from her injuries.

Authorities said alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
