Man dies after causing disturbance at Clearwater McDonald’s

Police described the man as being violent and under the influence of an unknown substance.

A man died Monday after trying to force his way behind the front counter of a McDonald’s in Clearwater.

According to police, the man attempted to jump over and push his way behind the front counter of the McDonald’s at 539 Missouri Ave. at 6:12 p.m.

An employee restrained the man until police arrived five minutes later.

The man, who was not identified, was described by police as being violent and under the influence of an unknown substance.

Due to his erratic behavior, paramedics provided emergency medical care. But the man became unresponsive, police said.

He was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing.
