CLEARWATER — A 70-year-old woman was killed Monday when her SUV crossed the center line and struck an oncoming pick-up truck head on, according to Clearwater police. The pick-up truck driver was reported to be in critical condition.

The crash was reported just before noon at S Fort Harrison Avenue and Woodlawn Street.

Maritza Alfandari, of New Port Richey, was driving a 2019 Honda SUV north on S Fort Harrison when her vehicle crossed over the center line, police said. It crashed head-on into a southbound 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Sandra Padgett, 58, of Belleair.

Alfandari died at the scene, police said. Padgett was flown to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg hospital for emergency medical treatment. She remained in critical condition on Tuesday, police said.
